Nearly 200 years ago, Johann W. Goethe spent more than 60 years completing his magnumopus, Faust, usingsymbolism to transform Faust into an avatar of the fate of humanity. His work pursuesthe harmony and beauty of Ancient Greece while combining rationalism and AncientGreek sensationalism, realism and romanticism, making it a rich vault of the humanspirit.
Today, inthe works of Italian artist Matteo Basilé and Chinese artist Li Zi, the spiritof Ancient Greece and Goethe’s classical aesthetics and philosophy reemerge.The two artists from different regions and cultural backgrounds both placetheir hopes on the revival of Ancient Greek culture in contemporary times.
Thisexhibition is a tribute to Goethe, a representation of Faust - a hope for the return of humanity and the Ancient Greek spirit of ‘harmony’in contemporary times.
