On this hot summer night, Liao Xianji started hisrecital with a cheerful performance of Rossini’s Largo al factotum.
In the pleasantly cool atrium of the WinlandInternational Finance Center on Financial Street, Liao played Casta Diva, Reminiscences of Norma S. 394, Quandome'n vo’, Che gelida manina, and Fantasy on themes from Figaro and DonGiovanni. These arrangements of themes from operas by Bellini,Puccini and Mozart bring together the classical and the romantic, and on this eveningLiao Xianji’s colorful and dazzling performance, with a wide range of styles,is both dramatic and delicate.
