This recital was part of the festivities celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France. The concert was also the fifth time that Winland had participated in the Festival Croisements. Noted French pianist Alexandre Tharaud presented Schubert’s “Impromptus” and Ravel’s “Oiseaux tristes,” “Une barque sur l'océan,” and “Alborada del gracioso,” which weave Classical and Romantic charms.
