Winland Summer Concerts

2013 Festival Croisements

—— The Winland Piano Recital

When the flowers bloom in the spring sunlight, it’s time for the Festival Croisements Winland Concert to add color and vitality to an already joyful season.

At the concert, noted French pianist Bruno Rigutto presented classics by Chopin, Debussy, and Ravel. The pianist chose works by Chopin that were full of emotion; whether joyous, despairing, or simply magnificent, Chopin created a free, tranquil, and dignified atmosphere. Every one of Debussy’s preludes has a title, which sets the scene for the piece. By depicting objects using a refined musical language and rich atmosphere, Debussy conveyed “impressions” that resonate with listeners. Ravel’s work is characterized by rigorous classical structures, impressive skill, and romantic feeling. All those who came to the concert enjoyed themselves immensely.
